BEACH! - day 4

Our last few hours in Hilton Head :( ... we got all our stuff together and the bell man came to take it down to our car. We have never stayed anywhere nice enough to have bell men so this was a treat! All morning, while we were getting our stuff together, Emma kept begging to "go outside." We got to the bottom of the elevator and Emma started walking to the left to go out to the beach. I told her we weren't going that way today and she just turned around and kinda sulked as she followed me out the front of the hotel with our luggage. It was pitiful...this was her face when I put her in the car...

We drove out to Harold's Diner where we had planned on having breakfast. Again, my Grandaddy found this small little place and he used to go there quite a few times during his stay. It is a very unique place and the food is fantastic! Inside, it's basically a counter with bar stools and they cook your food right there as you order and serve it up! We got there a little later than we should have because we had to wait about 20 minutes or so for a seat, but SO worth it! Emma thoroughly enjoyed her pancake and I had an omelet with cheddar cheese, swiss cheese, ham, bacon, and tomato served with what they call "home fries." Fantastic!

After breakfast, it was home for us! The drive home always seems like it takes twice as long as the drive there... But we had such a great time. It was so nice for the just the 3 of us to get away and we are so thankful we had the chance to get to go to our favorite place on earth!

BEACH! - day 3

Today on the beach, the breeze was not quite like it was yesterday...it was pretty hot! So we stayed under our tent most of the time which was fine with us, we love it under that thing on the beach! Emma wore her floppy hat today to keep the sun off her face. I told her it would keep the sun out of her eyes so whenever she took the hat off and wanted it back on, she would point to it and say "eyes!" So cute!

We took some pictures of her on the beach today to add to her 21month pictures we took last night. She was such a cutie in her hat! We took her down to the water to sit for awhile but she was not a fan, and it was too hot to stay at the water very long anyway...

Emma must have been extremely tired this afternoon. We went in for her nap around 12:30 and she didn't get up til 3:30! By that time, we didn't have much time to go back out because we were going to The Salty Dog and to Harbor Town tonight so we had planned on leaving a little early anyway....so out we went for the evening!

We went to The Salty Dog in South Beach Marina and we each got a t-shirt, it's tradition! Then we drove through Sea Pines looking at the most beautiful beach homes on our way in to Harbor Town. Harbor Town is my favorite place in Hilton Head. The famous lighthouse is there and I just love the atmosphere around the harbor with all the shops, restaurants, and music! We ate dinner at the Crazy Crab in Harbor Town, we'd never eaten here before but always heard it was really good and luckily we got a table right away!! Much easier when there are only 3 people in your party :). They brought out wonderful hush puppies and we got a crab cake as an appetizer.

We decided to try the steamed pot for our entree which consisted of lobster, crab legs, shrimp, and oysters. We both were not thinking too clear because that is exactly what came to our table. A pot of steamed seafood! It freaked me out a little because I haven't been eating seafood too awful long and wasn't expecting it to come out almost looking live to my table!

I dont care for oysters and the rest of it tasted kinda slimy so next time, I think we will watch what we are ordering a bit closer! After dinner, we walked to the top of the lighthouse for an absolutely incredible view!

It was a great evening and so sad we had to go back to the hotel and pack up our stuff...but first we took a walk on the beach for awhile and Emma seemed to like it the most tonight she has the whole time we'd been here! Can't wait to see the ocean again when we come back in September with my Grandma!

BEACH! - day 2

When we woke up this morning, Will went out to set up our tent. We had breakfast in our room, got all our gear together and headed out to enjoy the beach! The weather was perfect...that wonderful beach breeze was blowing constantly which made it all the more wonderful!

We had such a fun morning watching Emma play in the sand! She started to get sleepy though so we went in, had our lunch, and put Emma down for her nap.

After Emma got up, we went back out to the beach...

We had planned on staying out for a couple of hours but the tide started moving in so quickly we had to pack up our stuff and head in for the evening! We decided tonight we would eat dinner at Wild Wing Cafe, one of our very favorite places to get wings. They have this 25 wing sampler and you can chose 5 different flavors from a list of probably 30 some flavors! Its fantastic...

After dinner, we went back to Coligny Plaza. We got ice cream at the Frozen Moo, and even though they were out of my favorite flavor, the key lime pie, it was still great! Then we walked the beach and Will took Emma's 21 month pictures

We came back to our room, and I had packed a surprise for Emma! An elmo coloring book with stickers inside and a pack of big crayons. She had so much fun! I was putting some pictures on the computer and didn't realize that not only had she made a pretty picture on her coloring book but all over the white sheets as well! Not the brightest idea to put her on the bed to color :) Luckily, it washed right off...
